Signing up and getting into Avination

Creating an account for Avination

Signing up to Avination is pretty straightforward, it even has a feature where you can take your Second Life name with you.

If you want to create a new name (with a last name no less!) then go to the sign up page and create your new account. If you don’t want to use your SL name then you are ready to log into Avination.

If you want to use your Second Life name, create a new account using a throwaway name, log into the website with this name and go to the account details page and add your Second Life name. Make sure you remember your password!

Once you’ve done that, you need to link your SL avatar with your Avination account to confirm the name is yours.  You can either go to the Avination terminal in my mainstore or go back to the sign up page and then look at the box on the right hand side called “Coming from SecondLife™?” were you’ll see a link called Click for locations, click on that and it will give you the list of Avination terminals in Second Life where you can go to confirm your Second Life name.

Then your Avination avatar name will change to your Second Life name  and you can log into Avination.

Choosing a viewer

The easiest thing to do is to download and use the Avination Viewer but if you want to use another, probably the best viewer is Singularity as that’s what the Avination viewer is based on.

  • Click on the Grid dropdown list and see if Avination is listed.

If it is, click on it to select it and login with your new Avination account details.

If your viewer of choice doesn’t have Avination as one of the grid choices, you’ll need to add it.  This is pretty easy and only takes a couple of minutes.  This is the same process for any grid you want to visit.

If you do get an urge to go exploring other grids, first go to their website to create your account and there will be a page that has their viewer login details.  Not all viewers work well with each grid though.

Adding a grid to your viewer

If it’s not there, then you’ll need to add it.

  • Click on the Grid Manager button and on the preferences page click the Add button and fill in the following details: grid-set-up-2

Depending on the viewer you use, you might need to add some more details:
